I was awarded two study grants totaling $600 from Western Carolina University for 2008-2009 school year to continue my MFA studies. It all helps!

May 2008 - WATER WORKS were on display at Papou's Wine Shop located on Main Street in Sylva, NC. This group of river and water paintings done were mostly plein air in the local area. Papou's has a very wide selection of wines, including organic choices, and offers wine by the glass for your sipping and viewing pleasure.
March - May 2008 - In my studies at Western Carolina University's Master of Fine Arts Program I have been working on some purely text works related to the paperwork woes that inspired the Pilgrimage series. I will be continuing this work and posting some of those pieces online this summer.
Pilgrimage to the Dark Star and Other Works - was on view February and March 2008 at the Swain County Center for the Arts in Bryson City, NC.
To read an article about the show go to the Smoky Mountain News website, click on the archives tab on the left, scroll to the 2/20/08 issue and click on the Painting Over Bureaucracy article by Michael Beadle.
The Pilgrimage works relate to my 'day job' as a therapist. They are along my social commentary on North Carolina mental health reform....have included a few examples of the Pilgrimage collection on this site. The Other Works are the Cullowhee Creek series and other plein air works I completed this summer.
You can still see the article about me in the archived Summer 2007 issue of Western Magazine by going to Western Carolina University's website - then to University Publications - then to Western Magazine, Summer 2007. It is a nice article! I was fortunate to be featured in it. There is also information about the College of Art and Design and Western's facility. It is a great place to have a studio. I have really been enjoying my work there with the professors and fellow students.
